Ice Rats won against Opossums 5 - 2 at KCIC on Sunday. Ice Rats and Opossums both scored two goals to end the first period tied. Ice Rats took the lead in the second period with one goal. Ice Rats's defense shut down Opossums for the rest of the game. In the final period Ice Rats scored two goals adding to their overall lead and winning the game.
Ice Rats's Cody Grisham made two goals for Ice Rats. Ice Rats's Grisham put the biscuit into the net with 2:02 left in the first period with an assist from James Martinson. With 2:21 left to play in the third period Grisham put the puck in the net. Stacey Purinton and Eric Depa got the assists on this goal. Ice Rats's Eric Depa made two goals for Ice Rats and also had one helper. Ice Rats's Depa got an unassisted goal with 9:31 left in the first period. With 6:17 left to play in the third period Depa put the biscuit over the goal line with an assist from Dustin Frederickson.
Having a huge impact in the game, Ice Rats's Brad Gardner stopped 19 shots to gain the win. Opossums's Jeffrey Smith had just 17 saves on 22 shots to get the loss.
Ice Rats ended the game with a record of 9 wins and 9 losses. Opossums finished the game with a record of 9 wins and 12 losses.
