Leaving their opponents in the dust, Ice Rats overcame Cutters 7 - 1 at KCIC on Sunday. Ice Rats chalked up two straight goals to jump in to the lead in the first period. Ice Rats gained three straight goals in the second period and held on to its lead. In the last period, Ice Rats outscored their opponents by one goal and kept the lead to win the game.
Ice Rats's Cody Grisham netted two goals for Ice Rats. Putting their initial points on the board, Grisham netted a goal in the first period with an assist from Alex Karwas. Next, Grisham scored a second goal without any assistance in the second period.
Having a huge impact in the game, Ice Rats's Brad Gardner stopped 18 out of 19 shots to take the win. Cutters's Jeff Bowers had only 27 saves on 34 shots on goal for the loss.
Cutters ended the game with a record of 9 wins and 11 losses.
