Chicago Dogs Edges Opossums 4-2

Ryan Riley slaps the hat trick and Chicago Dogs scores go ahead goal in the first, goes on to get a narrow victory

In a close game, Chicago Dogs beat Opossums 4 - 2 at KCIC on Sunday. Chicago Dogs scored one unanswered goal to take the lead in the first period. Chicago Dogs gained three unanswered goals in the second period and held on to its lead. In the third period Opossums scored two goals but it was too little too late and they ended up with the loss.

In the first period, paving the way for Chicago Dogs, Robert Popper put the puck in the net with an assist from Corey Slinker, with 7:18 left on the clock. In the second period, piling on, Ryan Riley got an unassisted goal with 11:32 left on the clock, going further ahead. Piercing though the defense, Ryan Riley got a goal with 8:33 left on the clock. Jason Rohlf got the assist on the goal, to go further ahead. Chicago Dogs took to the air when Ryan Riley lit the lamp with an assist from Corey Slinker with 1:36 left on the clock, to get further in the lead. In the third period, Opossums's Eric Sicilano netted an unassisted goal with 8:42 left in the period. Pounding the defense, Jeffrey Smith lit the lamp without assistance from team mates with 5:08 left in the period.

Showing off a strong stick, Ryan Riley got the hat trick with three goals. Robert Popper tallied one goal for Chicago Dogs. Corey Slinker had two helpers. Rohlf contributed one assist for Chicago Dogs.

Eric Sicilano and Jeffrey Smith each tallied one goal for Opossums.

Chicago Dogs ended their losing streak of two games and improved to a record of 12 wins and 6 losses. Opossums ended the game with a record of 8-11.
