Red Rockets Soundly Defeated By Chicago Dogs 8-2

Corey Slinker fires the hat trick while Chicago Dogs relies on offense to dominate their opponents on the road

In a lopsided victory, Chicago Dogs prevailed over Red Rockets 8 - 2 at KCIC on Sunday. Chicago Dogs outscored Red Rockets two to one to take the lead at the end of the first period. In the second period, Chicago Dogs outscored their opponents by three goals and kept the lead. The Chicago Dogs defense took over in the final period. In the final period Chicago Dogs scored two goals cementing the lead and winning the game.

Turning in a great performance for Chicago Dogs, Corey Slinker got the hat trick with three goals and also had one point. During the first period, Slinker got a goal with assists from Jeffrey Stephens and Robert Popper. During the second period, Slinker lit the lamp with assists from Jeffrey Stephens and Robert Popper. Chicago Dogs pierced the defense when Slinker scored a power play goal in the second period with assists from Scott Nicholson and Robert Popper. Chicago Dogs's Dave Swearingen scored two goals for Chicago Dogs and also had one assist. Putting a first goal on the board, Swearingen netted a goal in the second period. Ryan Riley got the assist on this goal. During the third period, Swearingen put the biscuit into the net with an assist from Robert Quinn.

Chicago Dogs's Steven Bell stopped 15 shots to take the win. Red Rockets's Bob Klem had just 29 saves on 37 shots and got the loss.

Chicago Dogs was 1-for-3 on power plays. Red Rockets went 0-for-1.

Chicago Dogs ended their losing streak of two games and improved to a record of 12-6. Red Rockets ended the game with a record of 4-14.
