Defenses slugged it out, but Angry Beavers beat Ice Rats 2 - 1 at KCIC Indoors on Sunday. Neither team got the puck past the goalie in the first period. Ice Rats gained one goal in the second period to break the tie and take the lead. Ice Rats was on top one to zero, but the final period would turn the tables on them. Angry Beavers rallied in the final period with two consecutive goals, to grab the win.
In the second period, Ice Rats's Ice Rats scored a power play goal. In the third period, Angry Beavers's Tim French scored a goal without any assistance, with 9:00 left in the period, tying the score at one apiece. Then Dave Bateman put the puck in the net without assistance with 6:12 left on the clock, to grab the lead and win.
Dave Bateman and Tim French each tallied one goal for Angry Beavers.
Displaying a golden glove, Angry Beavers's Troy Blank made 14 saves for the win. Ice Rats's Brad Gardner made 14 saves to get the loss.
Despite losing Ice Rats went 1-for-1 on power plays, while Angry Beavers was 0-for-0.
Ice Rats finished the game with a record of 6-9.
